Dr. Michael Casey
Experienced Leaving Cert Irish teacher. Exam-focused lessons, on demand, from one of Ireland's most experienced grinds teachers.
Meet Dr Michael Casey
Dr Michael Casey has been teaching Irish for twenty years, and has spent twelve of them as an Irish examiner with the State Examinations Commission — so he knows not only the language, but exactly how the marks are awarded. Alongside teaching in some of the country's leading schools, he has tutored Irish at university level in Germany.
Michael completed his PhD at Ulster University without a single correction, researching literature, folklore and linguistics, and holds a Fulbright scholarship that took him to Kansas to teach Irish in the United States.
His work and research in Irish have been supported by a string of awards, among them a VCRS scholarship, a Degenhardt scholarship, and a James M Flaherty research award that brought him to Memorial University Newfoundland in Canada. He has contributed to discussions on Leaving Cert Irish on RTÉ Radio One, and features in RTÉ's expert tutorial series for Higher Level Irish.
On Grinds360, Michael teaches nine live classes every week. On the Leaving Cert side that means the Oral and Sraith Pictúr, Paper 1 and Aural, Paper 2, Writing and Grammar Skills, and a dedicated H1 Irish class for 6th Years — with Junior Cycle Irish for every year group alongside it, plus Leaving Cert and Junior Cycle French.
